I Will Miss

The words sound so cliche. Every birthday, every holiday season, and every new school year we hear those phrases. “Time flies!” “Don’t blink!”  “Where did our babies go?” “Where does the time go?” There are moments when it hits you. Just out of blue for no rhyme or reason. I mean, really hits home. Like a punch in the gut!

There are moments in time I wish I could just freeze and enjoy over and over again.  Others moments, well, maybe hit fast forward.

These are the moments/phases in life I don’t ever want to change, but I know they will.  How much longer will I be their everything?  How much longer will “Mom” be all they need or want?  Not long!  Not long at all, it’s only for a blink of an eye.

I will miss,

when you grab onto to my hand tight with your little fingers.  Grasping and holding just because it brings you comfort.

I will miss,

when no matter how much time has pasted, whether it be five minutes or five hours how you run and jump into my arms as I open the front door.  Screaming “Mommy” with every ounce of excitement you have in that little body!

I will miss,

the unprompted hugs, Eskimo kisses, and I love yous.

I will miss,

your belly laughs at our jokes and tickle sessions.

I will miss,

your imaginative, funny, beautiful logic.  Your thinking is so innocent and sweet.

I will miss,

our cuddle time.  Snuggles make everything better.

I will miss,

the times when I ask you, who is your best friend or what you are thankful for, and your answer is always Mom.

I will miss,

kissing your boo-boos and making them “all better”.

I will miss,

Bedtime. Laying with you, hearing your every random thought. Watching you sleep and hearing every breath.

I will miss,

your unconditional love.

I will miss,

when you tell me you think I’m beautiful. Even on my worst days.

I will miss,

you asking to take silly selfies.

I will miss,

you wanting to have dance parties with me.

I will miss,

how your eyes just light up when we are together.

I will always be your mom, but I will miss being your everything.

As your mom, you will always be my everything.

Be on the lookout for my next post “Things I Won’t Miss!” 😜
