I was given an opportunity to visit Hershey Lodge and Hershey Park. The opinions in this post are my own and are not swayed by outside sources.
When I first told everyone I would be visiting Hershey with my youngest boys (2 & 3) by myself, people said “you must be crazy!” I can totally understand why anyone would think that, given that my two boys are crazy maniacs who love to torture me by never listening to me and are always challenging me. However, me the optimist, was thinking it will be nice, we are making memories, having some mommy and son time. I get to have fun with them all by myself (selfish I know). The only part I was really worried about was the 5 1/2 hour car ride which I mentioned in another post (https://reallife-mama-drama.com/2017/05/14/road-trip/). My fears were unjustified. They were amazing going there and coming home. Better than I ever could have imagined!
I want to share with you all of the details of Hershey Lodge first (2 more posts to follow- Hershey Park details + Hershey Chocolate World). It is conveniently located about 2 miles from Hershey Park. Central to some amazing restaurants, shops, and all of the Hershey attractions. When you first enter the hotel you are greeted by every staff member you see. Very upbeat and pleasant, and seemed excited to have myself and especially my boys to be there.
As you walk in the bell hop station is there waiting to help you get situated. Thankfully! I had my hands full with the boys, never mind all of the things we packed. They immediately whisked our bags away as we proceeded to check in. The front desk was super quick and efficient. Extremely friendly and had endless supply of full size Hershey bars to hand out to all of the guests. Right then and there, I knew I was going to love this place!
The smell of chocolate is everywhere. The lobby and restaurants are beautiful. They have an AMAZING gift shop as well. They have a restaurant named after the communities beloved hockey team, the Hershey Bears. Who just so happened to be playing at their arena, in the playoffs while we were there. They got beat in that final game, by the Providence Bruins, my home team. I didn’t share that little fun fact about me while I was there. The restaurants in the hotel offer an amazing variety of food, there is something to please everyone’s taste buds.
When we made it to our room I instantly noticed the resorts attention to detail. In the bathroom they have shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial soap… All infused with chocolate.
The comfy white comforters on each bed had Hershey kisses embroidered on them. I will right now make a public apology to the housekeeping staff. I promise you that, that was CHOCOLATE on the sheets and comforters. My boys seemed to always have a chocolate face and their hands were covered. #Sorry! I’m thinking they must see this a lot (I hope).
This resort is so kid friendly! They have a great little arcade room where they can play arcade games, the classic claw game, which we snagged 2 Hershey kiss stuffed animals. My boys spend a bunch of time at the air hockey table too. While we were playing, there were also a group of teenagers in there, seeming to having just as much fun as we were.
The indoor pool area, “Hershey’s Water Works“, is awesome! Wonderful for little ones and big one alike. They have two large play areas for toddlers and little ones. The water is less than 2 feet deep, most actually only goes over just your feet. They have a ship that has little slides, cannons and animals that shoot water, and many sprinklers shooting everywhere. The other little pool area has a walk in area as well as stairs. A big mushroom waterfall, and a balancing bucket area above your head. So watch out you can get dumped on from above when least expecting it!
The bigger pool has a basketball area, the “Reese’s Water Walk“, and a huge area for swimming and play. Then there is the “Twizzlers“. A dual water slide that exits the building while you are sliding and makes a big splash back into the pool area. So fun! Then I have to mention the hot tub/whirlpool. It was the largest whirlpool I have ever seen at a resort. Gorgeous, spacious, and so relaxing. I found the pool area had no heavy chlorine smell, it was extremely clean, and a perfect temperature.
The resort also has an amazing spa that offers services you will not find anywhere else. Unfortunately this trip I did not get to experience the spa because I had no one to be with the boys, but next time for sure!
A huge shout out to Hershey Lodge for having us as your guests! You have spoiled us, thank you! The boys haven’t stopped talking about it, and can’t wait to come back!
This is what happens to you children after a day at Hershey Lodge…
